ID factsheet: Outbreaks - a focus on Coronavirus

The Wuhan 2019 coronavirus (COVID-2019) has now started to spread rapidly, with new cases found in almost every continent in the world. There have been over 75,000 confirmed cases across the world. Although most of these were in China (71,333), there have also been 9 new cases in the UK. COVID-19 is part of the betacoronaviruses, with an estimated R0 of 3. So far, this outbreak has proven more deadly than the SARS (2002) and MERS (2012).

It is managed supportively along with with strict isolation.
